Enrico Pieranunzi Trio & Jazz Ensemble: “Blues & Bach”

The brainchild of Michele Corcella, “Blues & Bach” pays tribute to the great American pianist and composer John Lewis. A founder of the historic Modern Jazz Quartet and a lover of Bach‘s music, Lewis believed deeply in the possibility of fusing the contrapuntal language of the great German composer with blues and jazz improvisation. A courageous crossover insight taken up by Corcella with the collaboration of Pieranunzi and his trio and made into a CD released in early 2023 by the Dutch Challenge label. For this performance at the Casa del Jazz, the chamber ensemble featured on the CD has been modified in a more jazzy direction, and along with Pieranunzi ‘s trio will play a Jazz Ensemble made up of eight of the brightest soloists on the Roman scene. This is yet another element of interest for a project whose live or studio performances have already been highly acclaimed by Italian audiences and the international press.
