This new project by Riccardo Fassi, with Salis’s compositions arranged for orchestra , aims to present an unprecedented and lively musical world in a completely new guise. Salis’ compositions are as expanded and extended through interpretation, bringing to the audience’s attention the depth of an original and unique composer. As Salis is a pure improviser, often performing in solo,duo or small groups , it is very curious and surprising to hear his music and his musical world in this orchestral guise. Riccardo Fassi through this work wants to deepen the collaborative relationship established for many years with Salis adding a new chapter to the many occasions : from the keyboard duo to the participation in the Tankio Band CDs “Notte”, “Tankio Band Plays Frank Zappa” , “Serial Killer,” to the second CD on Zappa ” The Return Of Fat Chichen,” to the soundtrack of Marco Turco’s film “Belleville-Vite in Sospeso.” Also in the orchestra is Sandro Satta, who has a very long collaboration with Salis and will be another important point around which the “sonic tale” moves. Completing the project are some of Fassi’s compositions often played by Salis, such as “Giallo Evanescente” or ” Gare De Lyon.” A journey then through the many musical places and colors that Antonello carries within him, and which have never been told in an orchestral form. Playing Salis’ compositions with a large ensemble is therefore a discovery and an adventure that the Tankio Band tackles with enthusiasm and passion, to offer audiences a new sonic fresco around one of the most beloved musicians on the European and international jazz scene.
